Meet the team
President
Rishita Ranjan
Entering their fifth year in the Commerce program with a focus in marketing and minor in sustainability, Rishita is honoured to step into the role of President of DeGroote Women in Business. After being a long-time member of DWIB and previously serving as Director of Internal, she is excited to continue building a welcoming and supportive community for all members. Rishita is passionate about creating meaningful connections, fostering a sense of belonging, and ensuring everyone feels welcomed at every DWIB event. They looks forward to an exciting year of engaging, movtivating and empowering students!
Vice President
Haleema Ifran
In her fifth and final year of the Commerce with Internship program, Haleema is so excited to take on the role of Vice President for DWIB. After completing her 12-month Brand Marketing Internship at Conagra Brands, she is more ready than ever to return to DeGroote and is excited for another year of growth and development. Haleema is excited to bring her creativity, passion and collaboration to the club to continue to foster an inclusive environment for everyone. In past years, she has served as Director of Marketing and as a dedicated member; she is so excited to be back on the club and to continue engaging, motivating and empowering our amazing members.
Director of Finance
Adria Basaraba
In her third year of the Honours Commerce program, pursuing a specialization in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Innovation, Adria is excited to step into the role of Director of Finance. As a general member last year, she experienced the impact of the club firsthand and hopes to carry on that same support by engaging, motivating, and empowering students. Beyond DWIB, Adria recently completed a four-month internship at Sun Life Financial and is eager to leverage her experience to support DWIB's growth and success.
Director of Operations
Saya Teasedale
In her second year of the Honours Intergrated Business and Humanities with Co-Op program, Saya is so excited to step into the role of Director of Operations! Her experience last year as a general member, viewing first hand the uplifting and motivating community that is DWIB, led her to pursue an active role in the club's executive team. Saya hopes to empower and engage students, looking forward to the many events ahead. Saya can't wait for this year, to meet the members, and to make postive lasting impact!
Director of Multimedia
Katie Lo
In her third year of the Commerce program, Katie is so excited to be taking on the role of Director of Multimedia for DWIB! As a dedicated DWIB member for the past two years, she has grown to love the welcoming and empowering environment DWIB creates for its members. As someone who enjoys being creative and bringing ideas to life, Katie is excited to explore photography, videography, and visual storytelling to showcase DWIB’s events, initiatives, and community. She looks forward to learning new skills and creating content that captures what makes DWIB so special!
Director of Marketing
Traya Herath
In her third year of the Commerce program, Traya is thrilled to join the DeGroote Women in Business team as Director of Marketing! With a passion for elevating DWIB's creative vision and brand presence, she's eager to blend her love for data-driven insights and visual design. Traya is committed to building an inspiring community space where every member feels celebrated and empowered. As she steps into this role, she looks forward to connecting with the DWIB community, collaborating with the team, and growing both personally and professionally. She's so excited for everything this year will bring!
Director of External Relations
Aliya Ghent
In her second year of the commerce program, Aliya is excited to serve as Director of External Relations for DWIB. As she continues to explore different areas of business, she is passionate about building relationships and creating opportunities for women in business. In her role, Aliya oversees DWIB’s outreach to corporate partners and community organizations, creating collaborations that provide members with professional development, industry insights, and networking opportunities. She is committed to fostering an inclusive and empowering environment where students can make meaningful connections, gain a sense of community and belonging, and discover their hidden passions. Beyond DWIB, Aliya completed her internship as an Administrative Assistant this past summer, working for North-Wright Airways in Norman Wells, NWT.
Director of Internal Relations
Sanjana Kumaran
In her fourth year of the Commerce program, specializing in Marketing with a minor in Economics, Sanjana is thrilled to step into the role of Director of Internal Relations for DeGroote Women in Business. Having experienced the empowering community of DWIB firsthand, she is dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive environment where every member feels valued and inspired to grow. Beyond DWIB, Sanjana is currently completing a four-month internship as a Customer Acquisition intern at Canadian Tire Bank and is eager to leverage her professional experience and problem-solving skills to strengthen internal engagement, build meaningful mentorship connections, and support the club’s continued success this year!
Director of Advocacy
Melinda Rozanov
Entering her fourth year of Commerce with specialization in Marketing and Strategic Management, Melinda is incredibly excited to step into her role as Director of Advocacy for DWIB. With experience in roles related to engagement, and a deep commitment to advocacy-related initiatives, she hopes to drive change by creating an impact one person at a time. After connecting with the DeGroote community as a general member of DWIB, her goal is to give back to the community in the same way she’s felt seen, understood, and uplifted by DWIB.
Director of Community Engagement
Anise Shrubasall
Entering her second year of the Integrated Business and Humanities program, Anise is excited to continue her involvement with DeGroote Women in Business as Director of Community Engagement. After joining DWIB in her first year as a general member, Anise is passionate about building meaningful connections and creating opportunities for members to feel supported, connected, and empowered throughout their university experience. She looks forward to helping foster a welcoming community and creating engaging opportunities for students to connect, grow, and learn from one another!

The motive of DeGroote Women in Business (DWIB) is to fully engage, motivate and empower female-identifying business students through business education and experience. It is our mission to create a platform where students can openly address issues concerning women in the business world. DWIB will provide mentorship, awareness and exposure to different industries and companies through various events. Additionally, the goal is to facilitate a smooth and confident transition from an academic environment to a professional environment. We aim to develop and organize unique and valuable opportunities to benefit both students and partners. DWIB will provide a platform for the talents of the present to meet the leaders of the future.
