Sarah McClelland

In her third year of the Commerce program, Sarah is excited to pursue her specialization in Accounting and Finance, with a minor in Psychology. Leveraging her experience as both a general member and an executive, she is eager to continue expanding on DWIB’s mission to empower students, and equip them with the tools and knowledge for success. As this school year begins, she is dedicated to fostering a strong, inclusive, and supportive community in which members can thrive. Driven by a passion for making an impact, Sarah is incredibly excited for the year ahead.

Vice President

Hurayen Kabir

In her final year of the Commerce program, Hurayen is excited to take on the role of Vice President and continue building upon DWIB’s legacy of engaging, motivating, and empowering DeGroote students. She is passionate about creating a supportive community at DeGroote and is eager to establish spaces where students can develop their skills and find inspiration. Hurayen looks forward to connecting with DWIB members to foster meaningful and long-lasting relationships. After completing her 16-month internship, she is thrilled to return to DeGroote and is excited for another year of growth and development.

Kirsten Oldham

Entering her third year in the Commerce program, pursuing a specialization in Accounting and a minor in Economics, Kirsten is excited to bring her curiosity and experience to the role as this year’s Director of Finance! Having been a general member last year, Kirsten looks forward to working closely with the executive team to organize fun and empowering events, as well as build on to the supportive community DWIB offers. Kirsten is looking forward to meeting new people, learning new things and having an exciting and fun year with DWIB!

Abby Smith

In her second year of the IBH program, Abby is thrilled to join the DWIB team as Director of Operations. Abby is driven by her passion for leadership and strives to build a supportive community of empowered women. She is excited to develop important skills such as communication and collaboration. Outside of school she enjoys figure skating, playing guitar, and a good coffee. Abby is dedicated to ensuring members’ expectations are not only met but exceeded. She is ready and eager to see what this year will bring!

Emma Kerr

In her second year of the commerce program, Emma is ecstatic to join the DWIB executive team as the Director of Multimedia. She is passionate about marketing and analytics, and is excited to pursue her minor in political science. DWIB has played a transformative role in her business journey, and she’s beyond excited to make relationships with members and make a lasting impact. She loves having conversations with anyone and everyone, and believes that the best relationships come from sitting beside a random person in class. Emma looks forward to connecting with and empowering others, while working with the community that has inspired her to become the leader she is today.

Haleema Irfan

In her third year of the Commerce program, Haleema is so excited to join the DeGroote Women in Business team this year as Director of Marketing! She is excited to pursue her interest in Data Analytics and Marketing while pursuing a minor in Economics. As a dedicated member for 2 years, Haleema is excited to help further promote the club’s initiative of engaging, motivating and empowering to foster a positive environment for all members. As she steps into this role, she is eager to meet everyone in the DWIB community and grow both personally and professionally. She is so excited for the upcoming year!

Simran Auluck

Now in her fifth year of the Commerce program with a specialization in Data Analytics, Simran is thrilled to join the DWIB executive team as the Director of External Relations. She’s passionate about fostering an inclusive and supportive community for all students, while motivating, engaging, and empowering others along the way! After completing a 16-month internship as a Business Analyst at the MTO, Simran is excited to bring her professional experience to her role this year, aiming to build strong, positive, and lasting relationships with our sponsors. She’s looking forward to an amazing year ahead!

Director of Internal Relations

Cassandra Khani

Cassandra, currently in her fourth year of the Integrated Business and Humanities program, is excited to return to DWIB for a second consecutive year as Director of Internal Relations. As she completes her internship at Jaguar Land Rover Canada, she is eager to leverage her growing expertise and passion to drive impactful initiatives within DWIB. Her focus is on fostering meaningful connections within the DWIB and DeGroote community, ensuring that all members feel supported and valued. Outside of DWIB, Cassandra is passionate about connecting the mind, body, and soul through movement such as yoga or immersing herself in nature’s beauty. She also never passes up an opportunity to explore new coffee shops with friends, blending her love for discovery and social connection. Driven by determination and ambition, Cassandra is eager to build a lasting legacy in collaboration with the executive team.

Joann Serrao

Joann is this year’s Director of Advocacy and a second-year Honours Commerce student, specializing in Finance/Accounting and pursuing a minor in Economics. Passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, Joann draws from her experiences growing up in an Indian-immigrant household and living in Jamaica for sixteen years. She is committed to creating an environment where all members feel heard, represented, and supported. Joann strives to always be a girls’ girl, uplifting and empowering other women around her. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, thrifting, and unwinding with a good sitcom and a cup of hot chocolate. She’s excited for the year ahead and ready to make an impact!

Eleanor Way

In her second year of the Integrated Business and Humanities program, Eleanor is excited to step into the position of Director of Community Engagement this year. Driven by her passion for social impact and sustainability, and leveraging her leadership background, she is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment for members through the creation of innovative, accessible initiatives. Eleanor looks forward to meeting new people and collaborating with the executives to further DWIB’s legacy as an empowering and supporting community.

Our Mission and Vision

The motive of DeGroote Women in Business (DWIB) is to fully engage, motivate and empower female-identifying business students through business education and experience. It is our mission to create a platform where students can openly address issues concerning women in the business world. DWIB will provide mentorship, awareness and exposure to different industries and companies through various events. Additionally, the goal is to facilitate a smooth and confident transition from an academic environment to a professional environment.
