Tip #2: Getting involved with clubs and committees

  • A great way to find clubs and committees is by doing an Instagram search! Look up McMaster, Mac, DeGroote, etc. to find a lot of great organizations on campus

  • McMaster Student Union directory has a list of all the clubs McMaster offers

  • A lot of clubs within the same faculty repost events for other clubs - this is a great way to find new organizations that may interest you

  • There are also different clubs such as Black Space or clubs centered around diversity

Tip #3: welcome week and fyop

Welcome Week Events

  • Welcome Week offers a variety of different events - some are faculty-specific and some are MSU events for everyone

  • Go into all events with an open mind, you never know when you are going to meet your next best friend

Connecting With Greensuits

  • Look for patches and points of connection on people’s suits

  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions

  • If you connect with a Greensuit rep, you can request them as your FYOP mentor

First Year Orientation Program (FYOP)

  • FYOP is a mentorship program that is built on connecting incoming first year students with upper year mentors

  • The goal of the program is to ensure first year students are supported by the DeGroote community in their transition to university

  • Stay tuned to the @fyo_dcs Instagram to find out when you can apply to the program!
