Meeting new people is one of the best parts of university! The best places to meet likeminded individuals that share your interests are in clubs!

  1. Attend Welcome Week

    • Follow @greensuits and @msucampusevents on Instagram and @WWGreensuits on Twitter for all Welcome Week events and information!

    • Runs from Wednesday, September 1 until Wednesday, September 8, virtually and in-person

  2. Join clubs as a general member, or apply to be an executive

    • Follow the Instagram of clubs that interest you to find out more about how to get involved

    • Attend Faculty Fest on Sunday, September 5 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM EST to learn more about clubs/committees at McMaster

  3. Join Intramural Teams

  4. Sign up for a mentor through the First Year Orientation Program (FYOP)

Tip #2: Download Campus Apps

McMaster tries to make your transition from high school to university as seamless as possible! Check out all its apps to help out navigate your uni life!

Navigate Campus:


    • Directions to specific rooms/buildings on campus

    • Building directory with short form/long form names

    • Bus schedule for around campus

    • Shows nearest washroom on campus

    • Quick dials for Emergency Services, including Student Walk Home Attendant Team (SWHAT), Emergency First Response Team (EFRT), and Campus Security

Google Maps

    • Walking routes from building to building on campus

Food on Campus:


    • Shows which food places are open

    • List of food places in each building with hours/menu

    • Search by specific foods/dietary restrictions, including Halal, Kosher, Vegetarian, and Gluten Free

    • Shows closest coffee spot to you

    • Nutritional information for each food spot


McMaster Recreation Get Rec’d

    • Scan your barcode of your student card when entering DBAC

    • Schedules for fitness classes/programs, the pool, The Pulse Gym, Intramural leagues, and more

Avenue to Learn:

Brightspace Pulse

    • Mobile Avenue to Learn

    • Check grades, announcements, updates, course outlines, emails, etc. on the go

    • Calendar that automatically puts due dates for assignments

Tip #3: Find spots on/around campus

    • Located in the basement of the Phoenix Restaurant, between Hamilton Hall and Wallingford Hall

    • Located in the basement of McMaster University Student Centre (MUSC)

    • Has ample lounge seating and offers a menu of delicious pastries as well as a variety of hot and cold beverages

    • Located at 1020 King St W

    • Walk down Sterling St (Entrance of campus with rainbow sidewalk)

    • Has indoor and outdoor seating
